Taronga Western Plains Zoo General Admission
Taronga Western Plains Zoo is a wild and wonderful slice of Africa located in Dubbo, right in the heart of New South Wales. With over 300 hectares of bushland, Taronga Western Plains Zoo is more than just a zoo experience, it's an African safari. Like Africa you will see big game roaming across wide open spaces, however, unlike Africa, Dubbo is only hours away.
Home to over 1000 animals, Taronga Western Plains Zoo is widely recognised as Australia's greatest open range Zoo. What does this mean? It means you won't notice the fences and barriers keeping the animals safely in their enclosures.
As you travel the Zoo's 6km circuit you will encounter animals hailing from each corner of the globe, however you will also find yourself immersed in the great Australian bush - this Zoo adventure will really bring you back to nature.
A full schedule of keeper activities and special tours, such as Animal Encounters and Early Morning Walks, deliver magical up close animal experiences you will never forget. Alternatively, you can book an informative and fun two-hour guided tour with a Zoo Friend volunteer (group bookings only).
Hungry humans are catered for by the Zoo's café and takeaway outlets, however, for those wishing to bring their own, free picnic and barbecue areas are dotted throughout the circuit. The Zoo can also cater for small to large groups.
Taronga Western Plains Zoo is open from 9am to 5pm (no admission after 4pm) every day of the year. For further information, including group and guided tour rates, please phone (02) 6881 1400 or visit www.westernplainszoo.com.au.
