Breast Cancer Network Australia will again hold the Field of Women LIVE in Melbourne on the evening of
Friday 7 May at the MCG, before the match between Melbourne Football Club and the Western Bulldogs.
The Field of Women LIVE brings the statistics of breast cancer to life in a meaningful and visually powerful way, highlighting the personal impact of breast cancer on our community.
BCNA presented the first Field of Women LIVE in 2005 on the MCG in Melbourne and in 2007 the event was held at Telstra Stadium, Sydney. Both these events were 'sold out' before the night.
They are nights now etched in the memory of the thousands of women and men who stood with us to demonstrate their support for the cause. The events are moving and inspirational.
The Event:
- 14,000 people wearing pink ponchos and 100 wearing blue standing on the MCG to represent the number of women and men who will be told they have breast cancer in 2010
- You will stand on the MCG and be part of the formation of the 'pink lady'
- Once on the ground, a ceremony will honour all those in our community who have been affected by breast cancer
- Participants will be recruited through a co-ordinated public relations and advertising campaign, including promotions and presentations to corporate and community groups, including in regional Victoria, to the public and within BCNA membership and networks
- All registrations will be conducted on-line via a dedicated website, and progress updates will be sent out to participants via email
- Registration will be $50 and will include the pink poncho, a back-pack and a ticket to the match and free public transport from anywhere in Victoria
- 100% of all money raised through registrations will ensure BCNA can continue their important work
- The event will include a 'new' twist ensuring the 2010 experience is unique and memorable for all participants
