The Canberra Choral Society and the National Capital Orchestra are proud to be joined by guest choristers from The Llewellyn Choir to present a performance of Ludwig van Beethoven’s magnificent and moving Missa Solemnis in beautiful Llewellyn Hall, ANU.

Composed in the final stage of his prolific and stellar career, and living with profound deafness by this time, Beethoven described the Missa Solemnis, completed in 1823, as his finest work.

Under the baton of Louis Sharpe, with Dan Walker CCS Music Director as Chorus Master, this concert assembles the forces required to do justice to Beethoven’s brilliant vision, featuring a large Canberra-based cast of choral and orchestral musicians, and four excellent soloists: Sarah Darnley-Stuart (Soprano), Emma Mauch (Alto), Ryan O’Donnell (Tenor) and Sitiveni Talei (Bass).

CCS, TLC and NCO are among Canberra’s leading community-based choral and orchestral ensembles with a proud tradition of bringing works from the classical and contemporary repertoire to audiences in the ACT region. This concert highlights the power of local collaboration.
