Iconoclastic pianist Piotr Anderszewski brings his intelligence, lucidity and joy to piano repertoire from Bach, Schubert and Schumann.

Everything about Piotr Anderszewski is extraordinary: the virtuosity, the originality, and his constant questioning as a performer. The Polish-Hungarian concert pianist brings restless curiosity to every aspect of his work, whether as a recitalist, recording artist, composer, or film director. His approach finesses the smallest details while also revealing the grand architecture that underpins each composition.

On his first Australian recital tour in over a decade, this unconventional keyboard hero will perform works by Schubert, Schumann, and Bach. Schubert’s Piano Sonata in C minor is one of his final compositions, written in his last months and published posthumously. It is a grand edifice for a life cut tragically short. Schumann’s Bunte Blätter, a later work, is a collection of memories, portraits, and dreams, shot through with flashes of gold like autumn leaves.

And then, Bach. After a lifetime immersed in his work, including three award-winning recording projects, Piotr Anderszewski reveals a whole new spectrum of nuance and expression.

'It is a privilege to welcome the iconoclastic pianist Piotr Anderszewski to Australia for his first national tour. His is such an individual and important voice, whether in Bach or Schumann, reminding us of the intense relationship between great performers and repertory.' - Paul Kildea
