Written and performed by Janty Blair
Directed by Nelly Thomas
Janty IS DOING HER FIRST SOLO SHOW AT THE AGE OF 60.
A proud Butchulla, Mununjali and Woppaburra woman, a nurse, a midwife, mother, friend, sister, daughter, and winner of the 2022 Deadly Funnies. Janty is a comedian like no other in the Festival.
With stories spanning six decades, Janty has seen it all and done a lot of it. She nursed in Saudi Arabia, has supported hundreds of birthing mothers, has lived and worked on stolen land, been engaged three times, had one son and at an age when society is telling her ‘she’s over the hill’, she’s out there dating and absolutely smashing a new career. Sure, Janty has gone from talking with her friends about sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll to podiatry, osteo and acupuncture, but she’s still talking.
Janty Blair is that cool Blak Aunt, you hope you sit next to at the Family function. Her yarning stories and physical comedy are funny, forthright and full of heart.
Do. Not. Miss. This. Show.
