In the early 1990s, the golden age of grunge, a young musician from Montreal named Melissa Auf der Maur was asked to join Hole as the band’s new bassist. She turned the offer down. But Courtney Love, who was grieving the recent deaths of Kurt Cobain and former Hole bassist Kristen Pfaff, wouldn’t take no for an answer – so Melissa boarded a plane to Seattle and changed the course of her life.

Melissa’s riveting and intimate new memoir, Even the Good Girls Will Cry, charts her wild trip through the sounds and stories of ’90s alternative rock, from her years with Hole and the Smashing Pumpkins to her solo career. Join this living legend in conversation with poet and musician Pascalle Burton for a deep dive into the glory, angst and fever dreams of the last analogue decade.
