With Special Guests: Third Eye Blind & Fountains Of Wayne
In 2027, prepare to play and have some fun when WEEZER brings its Weezer: The Gathering Tour to
some islands in the sun, returning to Australia and New Zealand next February and March. Bringing
WEEZER's first full headline set to Australia for the first time in 14 years, they'll be joined by special
guests THIRD EYE BLIND (USA) and FOUNTAINS OF WAYNE (USA). The Australian edition of The
Gathering tour will also mark the first ever live performances in New Zealand for both THIRD EYE BLIND
and FOUNTAINS OF WAYNE.
Forming in Los Angeles in 1992, WEEZER announced themselves to the world with gusto with their debut
album, Weezer, aka the Blue Album. Brandishing some of the band's evergreen hits like Say It Ain't So,
Undone - The Sweater Song and Buddy Holly, WEEZER's debut LP seamlessly balanced the
surrounding alternative grunge era with hooks, indie nods and sharp melodies, ultimately paving the way
for ongoing chart and critical success, over 35 million records sold worldwide and decades of creation that
has fearlessly evolved and endured.
The GRAMMY Award-winning band’s discography has expanded to 20 studio album releases in 34+
years, with megahits like Hash Pipe, El Scorcho, Island In The Sun and Beverly Hills joining older and
newer favourites as firm fixtures in pop culture for the last four decades. Whether releasing an orchestral
pop album (OK Human), a hard rocking celebration of the band's shared metal roots (Van Weezer),
adding to the soundtracks of cult-classics films (Mallrats), or watching even obscure songs from their
catalog go viral on TikTok, WEEZER's ongoing reinvention is once again on full display on their latest
2026 album Weezer (Gold) which dovetailed tongue-in-cheek meta songs about aging as a band,
weighing your legacy and carrying on.
On a live front, WEEZER's formidable reputation has seen them sell out stadiums as headliners, tour
alongside Pixies, Green Day, Fall Out Boy, Foo Fighters and Panic! at the Disco, and command
high-profile festivals across the globe. Most recently touring New Zealand in 2018, WEEZER ticked off
Australian appearances in 2025 as part of Good Things Festival, with Happy Mag praising of the band's
Sydney festival slot: "it was a set built on simple, glorious hooks, ending on a wave of collective, grinning
delirium."
Emerging from San Francisco in 1993, American alt rockers THIRD EYE BLIND instantly commanded
attention with their 1997 self-titled debut album, spawning classics like Semi-Charmed Life, Jumper and
How's It Going To Be. Injecting a vibrancy to vulnerable and introspective lyrics, THIRD EYE BLIND have
ticked off a Billboard Music Award as well as several California Music Awards, mainstream radio and
chart success over the years and seven studio album releases, including their most recent outing, 2021's
Our Bande Apart. Having toured with an eye-watering array of giants in the scene, from The Rolling
Stones through to Jimmy Eat World, Smash Mouth and U2, 2027 will finally mark THIRD EYE BLIND's
debut New Zealand performance, as well as their first Australian performances since 2011.
FOUNTAINS OF WAYNE have had it going on since forming in the mid 90s, evolving into a defining force
on the late 90s/early 2000s power-pop revival. Catapulting into the mainstream with their 2003 album
Welcome Interstate Managers, their breakout single Stacy's Mom would go on to reach #25 on the
Billboard Hot 100 and secured a GRAMMY Award nomination. With six albums in their wake, the group
unofficially disbanded in 2013 before launching their first official live performances again in 2025 following
the untimely passing of co-founder Adam Schlesinger in 2020. Still armed with sharp witticism and
ear-worm hooks, FOUNTAINS OF WAYNE will tick off their long-awaited New Zealand debut in 2027, and
will also mark their Australian return following their previous performances down under in 1999.
Celebrating what Rolling Stone dubbed as "one of the best Weezer albums of this century", WEEZER will
bring a horde of their hits across Australia and to New Zealand next year. February and March is now
officially sweater weather down under; Say Yes and don't miss WEEZER in 2027.
