Born in Germany, Hans Zimmer rose to fame with “Rain Man” and has since helped countless Hollywood megahits achieve success and dramatic-emotional impact, including “Mission Impossible II,” “Gladiator,” “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Interstellar,” and “Batman.” Hans Zimmer received his eleventh Oscar nomination in 2018 for the soundtrack to Christopher Nolan’s “Dunkirk.”
Audiences will learn about interesting backstories, such as how Hans Zimmer conveyed an anti-apartheid message in the lyrics of a song for “The Lion King” in the native language, telling Disney Corporation that it was about butterflies. Hans Zimmer cited Ennio Morricone as his idol and role model, whose repertoire will include excerpts from “The Good, the Bad, the Ugly” and “Once Upon a Time in the West.” Zimmer followed Morricone’s example by composing the film score in advance, rather than after filming, which shaped the entire work. For example, he changed the beginning of Ridley Scott’s “Gladiator”, and then the world-famous director moved into Hans Zimmer’s studio.
