Go deep underground, travel back in time within the Wynyard Tunnels’, then fast forward to right here, right now. Plunge into a space of misdirection and discover a secret spectrum of touchable colour, kaleidoscopic lasers in an underworld of intensity and power, glowing and rhythmic. An epic soundtrack will draw you deeper as you move through this all-new kilometre long immersive experience where light, sound and colour collide. Brought to Sydney by award-winning, International trail producers Sony Music, Culture Creative and Mandylights as part of Vivid Sydney 2024, turn on the lights again, open your mind and unleash the mystery of Dark Spectrum: A New Journey.

Who is Dark Spectrum suitable for?

Dark Spectrum is suitable for a wide range of age groups to enjoy. However, please be advised that children between the ages of 6 and 12 must be accompanied by an adult; children aged 5 and under are not permitted into the event.

Customer discretion is advised when purchasing tickets for those who may not be comfortable amidst an immersive, high-volume experience. The experience takes place along a one-way system in a series of underground tunnels with limited exits once inside. Some of the lighting sequences will include flashing, flickering and patterned effects, as well as strobe effects. Smoke and haze effects may be used in some areas of the route. For safety reasons, strollers and prams are not permitted. There will not be a designated area to store strollers or prams at the event.

Do I have to book in advance?
We recommend booking in advance online. Each timed entry has a limited capacity, and we expect this event to sell out. Tickets will be on sale at the venue when not sold out on events nights only from 24 May to 15 June.

If I book the wrong date, can I transfer my ticket to another date?
Unfortunately, this is not possible. It is important to make sure that you choose the right date and time slot when you buy tickets, as we are not able to offer exchanges or refunds after tickets have been purchased.

If I am delayed and miss my timeslot, can I join a later slot?
We may not be able to guarantee entry if you do not show up at the time indicated on your ticket. Please give yourself enough time to arrive and check in for the event. If you do arrive late, we may ask you to wait until we can accommodate you.

Do you accept companion cards?
Yes, holders of a government issued companion card can access a free ticket for their companion. Proof of eligibility will be required upon entry. Please book these tickets via the booking process or by calling Ticketek’s Accessible Line on 1300 665 915.

Are Dark Spectrum tickets refundable?
We are not able to offer refunds once tickets have been purchased. If you have selected the Ticketek refundable ticket option, please see here for further information on eligibility and how to apply for a refund if applicable.

Where do I enter Dark Spectrum?
The entrance to Dark Spectrum is via Wynyard Park Rooftop above Wynyard Train Station. Tickets will be scanned in Wynyard Park near the ticket booth positioned between York St and Carrington St. Once your ticket is scanned you will be guided by a steward to the entrance.

Will there be car parking available?
No, there is no specific parking for the event. We recommend you check with local authorities or use a map finding service to find the best option for you.

Where is the nearest public transport?
A popular trip planner for Sydney Public Transport System includes the Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW) Trip Planner, Google Maps, and Moovit. These services can be accessed online through a mobile app.

Wynyard Park is situated next to a main bus terminal and above Wynyard Train Station. Please see below for suggested bus routes that may pass Wynyard bus terminal.

Will there be bike parking?
There is no designated bike parking for Dark Spectrum at Wynyard Park or inside Wynyard Train Station.

Will the event be wheelchair accessible?
Whilst every effort is made to make the event fully accessible, the landscape within the tunnel covers some difficult terrain with a number of varying gradients.

These areas can be particularly challenging and wheelchair users may require assistance.

The tunnels can accommodate mobility scooters and wheelchairs, provided that their width does not exceed 1.1m.

We would like to highlight that the tunnels feature two ramps with inclines of approximately 6.7 degrees downhill and 7.8 degrees uphill. It is important to consider these gradients when planning your journey through the tunnels with your mobility scooter/wheelchair.

Is the event suitable for those with sensory sensitivity?
Guests with sensory sensitivity are welcome in Dark Spectrum at any time, however, please note that the event is a light and sound show that will be loud in some spaces and will include strobe effects and flashing lights.

We expect the event to attract a large audience at peak times and would advise visiting on weekdays before 2pm should you wish to avoid larger crowds.

Are strollers allowed?
No. For safety reasons, strollers or prams are not permitted onto the Dark Spectrum route. There will not be a designated area to store strollers or prams at the event.

Is there white strobe lighting or flashing lighting effects?
Yes. Some lighting sequences will include flashing, flickering and patterned effects, and strobe effects.

Will smoke or haze effects be used?
Smoke and haze effects may be used in some areas of the route.

It is best to arrive about 15 minutes before the entrance time printed on your ticket. Your entry time is a 15-minute window from the time printed on your ticket.

The last entry into the tunnels will be allowed 10 minutes after the final advertised timeslot. The event exit door will close 60 minutes after the final advertised timeslot.

Dark Spectrum is an immersive, aurally and visually intense experience, specifically designed to cater to older children and adults who can better comprehend and appreciate its unique elements. The environment within Dark Spectrum can be overwhelming for young children, particularly those under the age of 5, as they may find it difficult to process the audio, visual effects, and overall atmosphere.

No. There is no cloakroom or stroller storage available at Dark Spectrum.

No food and drink will be available for purchase at the event. Please refrain from bringing your own food and drink to the experience.

We advise you to dress warmly when attending Dark Spectrum. Whilst the event is not exposed to the elements, temperatures inside the tunnels will be similar to those outside.

For safety reasons no tripods or monopods will be allowed.

There will not be restrooms available inside the tunnels, however some facilities will be available in Wynyard Park.

No pets allowed, except for service animals. However, please note that Dark Spectrum is filled with stimulus that could upset animals. There will be flashing lights, loud noises, and many people.
