BaianaSystem lands in Australia in June with the explosive energy of Brazilian carnival on a tour celebrating the group's 16th anniversary. Winners of a Latin Grammy in 2019, BaianaSystem's live show is considered one of the best audiovisual shows on the Brazilian scene today. With a trajectory that will reach 16 years in 2025 and that has consolidated BaianaSystem as one of the most revolutionary organisations in Brazilian music. The collective is bringing the "Sambaqui Show" tour to Australia and NZ for the first time. The show arrives in Australia after touring the stages of Brazil's main festivals and venues, bringing the explosive energy that has become traditional in carnival, wherever the Navio Pirata, BaianaSystem's trio, goes. In this context, if the shows are based on a constant process of metamorphosis, in which the exchange with the audience and the transformation of existing materials are the fuel for new creations, the Australian and NZ audience can expect a version of the "Sambaqui Show" specially designed for the moment.
With five albums released, international tours in Europe, USA, Japan and China, this Brazilian band has collaborated with artists such as Manu Chao, Gilberto Gil, Tropkillaz or Vandal among others. Originally from Salvador de Bahia, BaianaSystem mixes the reggae sound system with the Bahian guitar, creating a fusion of the Jamaican genre with Afro-Brazilian rhythms such as afoxé, ijexá and samba-reggae.
