Igraszki z diabłem (Playing with the Devil) is a popular play by Czech playwright Jan Drda, written during the German occupation (first published in Czech in 1946, in Polish in 1949). It is a comedy in ten scenes, full of humour, irony and fairy tale motifs, telling the story of the struggle between good and evil. The protagonist is the good-natured soldier Marcin Kabat, who returns home after years of service and finds himself in a whirlwind of adventures with devils, angels, highwaymen, and naive women – the servant Kasia and Princess Disperanda. The latter signed a devilish pact in blood to secure the perfect husband, which embroils everyone in a cosmic intrigue involving Beelzebub himself.
