Fifty years after first touring Australia, Ralph McTell returns for one final farewell
tour. The UK musical legend will perform much-loved work from an illustrious career
which spans over six decades, armed simply with his songs, his guitar and his stories.
Audiences all over the world are still drawn to his timeless classic Streets of London
which catapulted him to global fame. The melodic beauty and cold hard truth of the
song keeps it, sadly, forever relevant.
An accomplished raconteur, McTell also tells incredible life stories. From hitch hiking
with Rod, ‘The Mod’ Stewart, playing Isle of Wight Festival alongside Jimi Hendrix and
Sly Stone, a crap game with Tom Waits in LA, to his Ivor Novello award, an
impromptu meeting with the President of Ireland and a trip to the BBC show The
Repair Shop with a somewhat ragged kangaroo.
With a life’s worth of writing to choose from, McTell’s audience will be treated to not
simply an autobiography of songs and stories, but a reflection of an epoque from a
quintessentially English singer songwriter.
